I recently had the pleasure of making several projects for an Art Gallery Fabrics Look Book. The fabric collection I am featured in is called “EVE”. According to the Art Gallery Fabrics website, this collection was inspired in honor of the female spirit and of being a woman. Such a beautiful sentiment and an even lovelier collection.
The “EVE” collection features cheetahs, herons, butterflies which represent different characteristics of womanhood: a fierce protective instinct, as well as grace and beauty. The colors that artist Bari J chose were representations of femininity and the earth.
When I was sent the images of the different prints in the collection, I immediately had so many projects in my mind. Since the collection has quilting cottons as well as a few rayons and a knit, the possibilities were endless. It wasn’t easy deciding on which projects I would submit for review. The projects we ended up agreeing on were:
- The Norah Handbag by Sotak Handmade
- The Norfolk Pouch in large also by Sotak Handmade
- The Simple Coin Pouch by The Sewing Librarian (me)
All three projects were made using Flutterflies Wind for the exterior and Shibori Azure for the lining. I also used waxed canvas on the handbag and the pouch.
I was so thrilled with how they came out that I decided this set was going to be my new handbag and accessories.
When I saw that there were rayons and a knit in the collection too, I decided I wanted to also make an article of clothing. I wasn’t sure if they were going to accept both submissions, but I am happy to report they did! I chose:
The Safiya Dungarees – a wide-leg jumpsuit that you wear over a tee shirt
This pattern is found in the Tilly and The Buttons Book, “Make it Simple” which I will be reviewing in a future post. It was made using the Rosefield Sapphire rayon fabric. I love this combination of a simple jumpsuit showcasing a gorgeous blue floral.
I hope you don’t mind that this wasn’t exactly a book review. From time to time I will create content related to different things happening in the my life as well. Although I love to sew and quilt, I am a well-rounded individual with many likes and talents and I hope you will continue along this journey with me.
