About Me
Hi – my name is Dorothy and I am The Sewing Librarian and the owner of CaSo Creative Designs! I am a retired librarian from New York who moved with my husband to North Carolina to get away from those New York winters!
While in NC I started sewing again after over 25 years. My original sewing machine died when I first got married. After raising two children and relocating, I decided it was time for a new sewing machine. My plan was to make a few articles of clothing and maybe some home décor. Well life and YouTube videos took me in a whole different direction. I started making makeup bags and pencil cases and those led to tote bags and handbags and wallets! Soon quilts were added to the repertoire!
I started making items for everyone I knew as birthday and Christmas presents. Everyone told me I should open an ETSY shop so I decided to give it a shot. In March of 2018, I opened my Etsy shop which has been a very exciting (and sometimes frustrating) endeavor. This past summer I was able to teach some sewing classes at a local quilt shop which let me work out my librarian muscles. I still wanted to work in librarianship but also wanted to continue to grow my business. I decided to try to find a way to combine my two loves – books and sewing – and the result is this blog.
In this blog I will be reviewing sewing and quilting books and I will be creating projects featured in each book. I hope to inspire you to give sewing a try and to curate your own little sewing library!
